Replacement Certificate Service

SQA operates a service for the issue of replacement certificates. We will provide a replacement certificate for all qualifications achieved from 1995 onwards. All other qualifications achieved prior to 1995 will be provided as certified statements (on SQA certification paper) as they were achieved under predecessor bodies such as, SCAPE, SANCAD, SCOTEC, SCOTBEC, SCOTVEC, SEB.

There is a standard charge of £35 to issue a replacement certificate. Searches for qualifications will be based on the details provided on this form. Additional searches requested after the replacement has been issued will incur a new charge of £35. Where no qualifications are held a letter will be issued to the applicant informing them of the outcome.

Turnaround time is usually 2-3 weeks.

Changes to Core Skills Profiles from October 2008

The Core Skills Framework has undergone a refresh, which means that some of the components within it have changed. These component changes were necessary to ensure that the Framework remained current. Candidates with a Core Skill Profile will notice that if they get a new or replacement certificate after October 2008, the component titles on their Core Skill Profile may have changed. This is because the new certification Arrangements will give ‘new for old’ status in terms of Core Skills.
