The Accreditation Coordination Group is made up of 6 core members from SQA Accreditation:

  2. Carole Brown (Senior Accreditation Manager)
  3. Dennis Dunne (Senior Regulation Manager)
  4. Vacancy (Research Officer)
  5. Karen MacGregor (Information Officer)
  6. Linda Kelly (Accreditation Officer)
  7. Vacancy (Senior Accreditation Administrator)

Its primary role is to make group decisions in relation to awarding bodies and the qualifications they offer. This includes:

  • Awarding body approval
  • Awarding body quality assurance issues including audit outcomes, audit reports and recommendations
  • New qualifications
  • Amendments, extensions and withdrawals of existing accredited qualifications
  • Centre monitoring reports, their outcomes, recommendations & impact on awarding body quality assurance measures

ACG meets once a week (usually Wednesday mornings) where advisers take papers, on behalf of the relevant awarding body to progress one of the points above. ACG will always endeavour to make decisions quickly and consistently, enabling advisers to communicate outcomes to their awarding bodies as soon as possible. Decisions usually fall into one of the categories below:

  • Approved
  • Approved subject to meeting specified conditions
  • Rejected

If a decision is approved subject to meeting specified conditions, the relevant adviser will explain these requirements to the awarding body in detail to facilitate a smooth progression to full approval.
