The above information session was arranged by SQA Accreditation to update awarding bodies and Sector Skills Councils where we are with the SCQF Credit Rating. The project started in July 2005 and is due to end in March 2008. The main aim is to refine the theoretical process into an actual process which would be sustainable. There was 20 Sector Skills Councils, four sector bodies and 23 awarding bodies that participated in the project. To date 130 SVQs and close to 2000 SVQ Units and 19 vocationally-related qualifications will have been allocated SCQF credit and levels by March 2008.
Throughout the day SQA staff and two external stakeholders gave presentations covering various topics. Workshops were arranged to discuss 'Determining the SCQF level of an SVQ' and 'Creating Flexible Awards which lead to SVQs'. We are in the process of analysing the outcomes from all the workshops on the day and will be discussing these with the Scottish Government with a view to developing a suitable model for taking forward.
