NPA Investigation of Modern Agriculture at SCQF level 5
This National Progression Award (NPA) provides an overview of the Agriculture industry with a focus on new and emerging technologies, for example the use of satellite and GPS systems; the collection, management, and use of data and metadata to improve efficiency; and the importance of diversification within the farming sector.
It develops knowledge and understanding of modern agriculture and how it influences practices in the learner's local area.
This qualification is available through schools, colleges and training providers.
NPAs can be taught as a full-time course over one year or as a part-time course over two years.
Assessment will be a combination of practical and knowledge assessments under open-book assessment conditions. See the assessment and evidence requirements for each unit.
The NPA in Investigation of Modern Agriculture is designed for a wide range of learners, including:
learners who are at school or who have just left school
adults returning to education
people with no or limited experience of agriculture
The qualification is also suitable if you are interested in a career in the agriculture sector or looking to progress to higher level studies.
You will develop an understanding of the agricultural activities that take place in your area, how technology and the collection and use of data affects these activities and how agri-tourism is helping farms diversify and remain viable.
Access
Entry is at the discretion of the school, college or training provider. However, if you are thinking of entering the level 5 award it is recommended that you have Core Skills at SCQF level 4.
You will also develop important research and interpretation skills.
