Information requested
I am looking for the Average and Centre-by-centre Performance by Question for Biology and Human Biology Higher for 2025 for the Objective Test. In other FOI responses it states that insufficient data is available for this. If this is the case can you explain why this is the case please. Surely you have a lot of data for the objective test paper. Can you confirm how the marking of the Objective Tests takes place.
Response
Centre mean marks data is calculated using item data which is captured during the marking process which is electronic for most subjects/components. There are still some components that fall out with this process. Component 2 (Objective Tests) for the sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Human Biology and Physics) at Higher all fall within this category.
All Higher Science Objective Tests are marked by a dedicated team within SQA. All responses are marked on two separate occasions to ensure accuracy. QA sample checks are also undertaken throughout marking.
