The Use of Scribes in SQA Certificated Examinations - What Do They Know

Under the freedom of information act, can you please provide the following specific data regarding the use of scribes in the SQA certificated examination diet of 2025.

Please provide (as per SQA procedure) any documentation or correspondence that confirms a request by East Renfrewshire council, or any East Renfrewshire High School to the SQA for the use of an exam scribe covered under the exceptional circumstances criteria.

The use of a scribe is a permitted assessment arrangement, the purpose of which is to provide disabled learners and those with additional support needs with an equal opportunity to demonstrate their attainment in an assessment.

There were 266 assessment arrangements for scribes processed by East Renfrewshire Council, 20 of which required approval by SQA, within the period specified.
