ESOL courses are for learners whose first language is not English. Learners develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in the English language, and also their knowledge of language.
These ESOL qualifications correspond with levels A1 to C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
We’re running Understanding Standards events for ESOL courses on the following dates
Friday 21 November 2025 from 10 am to 1 pm – National 2 to National 5 ESOL
Friday 16 January 2026 from 10 am to 1 pm – National 5 and Higher ESOL
Both events will take place at our Glasgow office.
What the events will cover
The event on 21 November will focus on the less commonly used ESOL units at National 2 to National 5, including freestanding units, ESOL for Employability units and ESOL Listening and Speaking units.
Our National 5 and Higher ESOL event on 16 January will focus on the Reading, Listening and Writing question papers, as well as the internally marked listening assessment.
You’ll have the opportunity to review and discuss examples of assessment evidence with colleagues during workshop activities.
