Explains the structure of the course, including its purpose and aims and information on the skills, knowledge and understanding that will be developed.

Changes are being made to this course following feedback from educators and learners. These take effect from session 2027-28:

  • Reduced the marks for the practical activity from 36 to 35 marks
  • Reduced the marks for the assignment from 46 to 36 marks
  • Investigation 3 now requires a technical investigation linked to fabric properties
  • Learners develop a concept board as part of their assignment solution
  • Justification section changed to give candidates the opportunity to present their solution and analyse the suitability of the chosen features for the target group or brief

No changes have been made to the question paper. Please check the updated course specification – paying particular attention to the updated course assessment structure section on pages 9-14.
