Explains the structure of the course, including its purpose and aims and information on the skills, knowledge and understanding that will be developed.

Changes are being made to this course following feedback from educators and learners. These take effect from session 2027-28:

  • Reduced the marks for the practical activity from 45 to 40 marks
  • Reduced the marks for the assignment from 45 to 30 marks
  • Learners carry out two assignment investigations instead of three
  • Evaluation skills replaced by solution development specification
  • Testing of the potential solution removed

No changes have been made to the question paper. Please check the updated course specification – paying particular attention to the updated course assessment structure section on pages 8-13.
